About the Role
This is a hands-on building role where you will take products from concept to production, shaping product direction with the founders and turning it into software that users in Japan will want to use. You will work across product design, frontend, backend integration, and deployment, continuously learning from users and improving the experience. The development workflow is AI-native, expecting aggressive use of AI for coding while maintaining judgment on product direction, architecture, and quality.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship web and mobile products from initial concept and design through backend integration and deployment.
- Own the product experience end to end, including typography, spacing, motion, empty states, responsiveness, and user interaction feedback.
- Use AI aggressively to prototype and build faster, while remaining the final judge of quality, logic, and engineering decisions.
- Work directly with inference and post-training teams to shape APIs and model capabilities around real product needs.
- Deliver working software weekly and continuously improve existing features.
- Engage directly with users to gather feedback and translate insights into product improvements, understanding the specific expectations and taste of users in Japan.
Requirements
- Shipped at least one product end to end and put it in front of real users.
- Ability to move quickly and overcome roadblocks, prioritizing working software delivery over isolated perfection.
- Strong visual taste and attention to detail, integrating design into the building process.
- Technically grounded understanding of modern software stacks and AI model capabilities/limitations to review AI-generated work and maintain high engineering standards.
- Comfort working across product, design, and engineering functions.
- Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a small, fast-moving team.
- Fluency in English.
- Experience as a former founder or having built something independently is a strong plus.
