About the Role
Ocean Infinity is seeking an AI Engineer to apply cutting-edge AI to underwater sensor data, tackling high-impact challenges in ocean survey, maritime operations, asset monitoring, and autonomous vessels. This role involves building production-ready AI solutions with high autonomy and the opportunity to shape the future of AI in the maritime industry.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and delivery of AI solutions, from exploratory research to production-ready inference pipelines.
- Define the technical approach for complex AI projects, including model architectures, data strategies, evaluation frameworks, and deployment paths.
- Design and implement models for detection, classification, prediction, and feature extraction.
- Work with large-scale, often unlabelled datasets, applying self-supervised and semi-supervised learning techniques.
- Adapt and fine-tune foundation models using techniques like active learning for maritime AI challenges.
- Review code, define best practices, and champion high engineering standards.
- Communicate technical progress, trade-offs, and results clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Evidence of hands-on experience in AI and Machine Learning.
- Solid Python development skills with strong experience in PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar deep learning frameworks.
- Experience working with non-standard imagery data, including writing custom data loaders and curating custom datasets.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable code and uphold software engineering quality standards.
- Comfort operating with high autonomy in ambiguous, evolving environments.
- Ability to break large problems into deliverable increments.
- Effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders, clearly explaining complex AI concepts.
