About the Role

Step into one of Australia’s most secure, high-performance Data Centres and launch your engineering career supporting mission-critical infrastructure for cloud, defence and enterprise customers. At Macquarie Data Centres, we don't just build data centres—we deliver the critical infrastructure that powers Australia's digital economy. We're looking for an experienced Project Director to lead the delivery of some of Australia's most significant mission-critical infrastructure projects. Reporting to the Executive General Manager you'll take ownership of a portfolio of major capital programs, from design and construction through to commissioning and operational readiness. This is a highly visible leadership role where you'll work alongside hyperscale customers, executive stakeholders, consultants and delivery partners to ensure complex, multi-million-dollar projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. Beyond project delivery, you'll play a key role in shaping and maturing our Project Management Office (PMO), strengthening governance, reporting and delivery frameworks that will support the continued growth of our Data Centre business.

Responsibilities

Lead the delivery of significant mission-critical infrastructure projects.
Take ownership of a portfolio of major capital programs from design through to operational readiness.
Ensure complex, multi-million-dollar projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Shape and mature the Project Management Office (PMO).
Strengthen governance, reporting, and delivery frameworks.
Coach and mentor project teams.

Requirements

Extensive experience leading major capital infrastructure projects within data centres or other mission-critical environments.
Proven track record delivering complex projects from concept through to commissioning and operational handover.
Strong commercial acumen with experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets, forecasting, and financial reporting.
Experience building trusted relationships with executive stakeholders, customers, contractors, and consultants.
Proven track record delivering a quality outcome on time and on budget.
Confident leading multidisciplinary teams while influencing outcomes across matrix environments.
Passionate about developing project governance, improving delivery frameworks, and driving operational excellence.
Calm under pressure with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
Customer-focused with a collaborative leadership style and a commitment to delivering exceptional outcomes.
Comfortable working in a fast-growing, agile business where no two projects are the same.
Extensive experience delivering major data centre, critical infrastructure, or large-scale construction projects.
Senior Program or Project Management experience across large capital investment portfolios.
Strong knowledge of project governance, risk management, scheduling, and stage-gate delivery methodologies.
Experience managing project commercials including budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls.
Demonstrated contract negotiation and supplier management experience.
Strong understanding of mission-critical infrastructure including power, cooling, MEP systems, and commissioning.
Experience working with enterprise, wholesale, or hyperscale customers.
Proven leadership capability with the ability to coach, mentor, and build high-performing project teams.
Outstanding communication and executive stakeholder management skills.
