Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive pre- and post-operative nursing care to pediatric and adult patients.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to patient changes in condition, such as cardiac rhythm or respiratory distress in the post-operative phase.
- Care for patients' post-surgery recovery by observing for side effects of anesthesia.
- Monitor patients' level of consciousness throughout sedation recovery.
- Communicate appropriate information and advocate for patients regarding pre-operative/post-operative conditions to surgeons and anesthesiologists.
- Integrate patient care standards in all clinical activities.
- Participate in performance improvement activities to enhance patient safety, quality of care, and outcomes.
- Maintain sensitivity and awareness of cultural and religious diversity when interacting with patients, visitors, and colleagues.
Requirements
- 1+ years of acute care experience.
- BSN from an accredited school of nursing.
- NYS RN license and registration required.
- AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS certification required.
