About the Role
The Maintenance Assistant reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for executing routine repairs and minor maintenance operations, focusing on providing superior customer service to residents.
Responsibilities
- Execute routine repairs and minor maintenance operations on electrical, mechanical, plumbing equipment, and buildings.
- Perform painting and minor carpentry, and maintain exterior grounds, excluding services covered by contracts.
- Conduct regular inspections of the premises for maintenance and safety, submitting required reports.
- Adhere to facility policies, procedures, safety rules, and safe working practices.
- Fulfill housekeeping and maintenance duties as required while assigned handyman responsibilities.
- Work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents).
- Uphold and promote the organization's values and philosophy regarding ethics, morality, and integrity.
- Complete other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English.
- Ability to self-regulate and work independently.
- Capability to perform necessary physical duties, including moving heavy objects.
- Familiarity with and ability to perform minor repairs to facilities and equipment.
- Knowledge and training in plumbing, electrical, heating, water, gas, mechanical, plastering, and painting.
- Ability to maintain and manage a budget, track work done, and record costs.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety.
- Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
