About the Role
As an Operations Manager, Transport NSW, you will lead the NSW Transport operation based in Lurnea. This pivotal role involves supporting operational performance, developing a high-performing team, strengthening customer partnerships, and ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of transport services across the state. You will oversee day-to-day transport operations, direct continuous improvement, service excellence, and sustainable growth, while supporting a diverse transport team and collaborating with customers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Helping transport operations to achieve outstanding safety, service and financial performance
- Influencing DIFOT, productivity and customer satisfaction outcomes
- Overseeing transport planning, allocation, fleet utilisation and operational workflows
- Developing effective relationships with customers, subcontractors and key stakeholders
- Ensuring compliance with Chain of Responsibility (CoR), NHVR, fatigue and mass management requirements
- Inspiring and developing a high-performing team through coaching, mentoring and performance management
- Creating continuous improvement initiatives across safety, service and operational efficiency
- Monitoring transport assets and maintenance programs to ensure safe and reliable operations
- Supporting commercial growth opportunities that align with business objectives and strategy
Requirements
- Proven experience within transport, logistics or 3PL operations
- An impressive background of improving transport operations within a cold chain or temperature-sensitive environment
- In-Depth knowledge of CoR, NHVR and transport compliance requirements
- Success in managing operational budgets, KPIs and performance reporting
- A demonstrated ability to support, coach and develop medium-sized teams
- Outstanding customer relationship management and problem-solving skills
- Experience working within food safety, HACCP or regulated environments
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and organisational skills
- Recognised systems capability, including TMS, WMS and Microsoft Office
