About the Role
The Patient Engagement Liaison is a field-based position supporting individuals with rare diseases, their caregivers, and patient advocacy organizations. This role is central to PTC's community engagement efforts, primarily focusing on the Phenylketonuria (PKU) community and potentially other rare disease areas of interest.
Responsibilities
- Engage with the rare disease community, including patient advocacy organizations, to understand the rare disease experience and integrate insights into PTC's strategies.
- Collaborate internally with PTC teams to identify, educate, build, and leverage relationships with individuals living with rare diseases, their caregivers, and Patient Advocacy Organizations.
- Assist the community with resources to help remove access barriers and gain coverage for marketed products, where appropriate.
- Build patient advocacy and community relationships for current and developing product disease states, adhering to all applicable regulations.
- Work cross-functionally with medical, communications, commercial, legal, and compliance teams to ensure adherence to country-specific guidelines, standards, and regulations.
- Connect families with Patient Advocacy Organizations and relevant resources.
- Develop, plan, and execute educational programs for individuals with rare diseases and their caregivers.
- Support Patient Advocacy Organizations through shared interests in education and programs.
- Advocate for access to care and therapies in collaboration with the rare disease community.
Requirements
- An empathetic and compassionate demeanor to relate to rare disease families and their challenges.
- Understanding of the healthcare, specialty pharmacy, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology industries.
- Adherence to all compliance rules and confidentiality.
- Demonstrated leadership experience working within cross-functional teams.
- Proven history of building and maintaining strong relationships, both internally and externally.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and Zoom.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong presentation skills, including the ability to explain technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, matrixed team environment.
- Analytical thinking with excellent critical thinking skills.
- Adaptability to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to enter data quickly, confidentially, and accurately into a CRM system.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Easy access to a major airline travel hub.

Experience Level
- 5 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, advocacy, medical, or related field.
- Experience supporting people with rare diseases, their caregivers and advocacy organizations.
Education Level
- Bachelor's degree
- Degree in a related clinical or scientific discipline including, but not limited to nursing, public health, social work, nutrition, dietetics.
Salary/Compensations
- $120,000 - $140,000
