About the Role
The Sr Actuarial Analyst role is the sophomore role in the Actuarial Student Program, focused on developing actuaries within the company by exposing them to different actuarial functions and providing support for actuarial exams. The work involves the continued application of fundamentals of actuarial practice in a professional setting.
Responsibilities
- Completing pricing and product support work for various wealth products including individual annuities, group annuities, segregated funds, and group retirement.
- Analyzing assumptions, creating projections, and running quotes for wealth products.
- Developing a broad understanding of the practical applications of actuarial concepts and using them to develop conclusions.
- Communicating basic actuarial concepts within the department both verbally and in writing.
- Preparing official communication within the department.
- Upholding professional ethics, values, policies, and procedures that support the company’s and profession’s standards.
- Utilizing and developing Actuarial Knowledge and experience gained through research and development initiatives as well as education learning.
- Training and mentoring junior staff.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science from a Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA)-accredited university or a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- Insurance industry experience including actuarial modeling.
- Actively pursuing a designation with the Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA) or The Society of Actuaries (SOA) and are within one year of attaining your Associateship with either organizations.
- Strong computing skills including experience with Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Subject to a Background check as a condition of employment.
