About the Role
In AECOM’s AI Engineering team, your code will directly shape the physical world. We build AI-driven technology that revolutionizes infrastructure and building design and engineering, reducing waste, cutting CO₂, and making the built environment more efficient and sustainable. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on software with measurable, real-world impact within a lean, highly technical team that combines the speed of a startup with the resources of a leading engineering firm.
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve production ML infrastructure for training, deployment, serving, and monitoring.
- Build and improve CI/CD, automation, and model delivery workflows used across the engineering team.
- Develop Python services, APIs, and platform tooling that support production ML workloads.
- Own reliability, observability, performance, availability, and security across production ML systems.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues across software, infrastructure, and ML workflows.
- Drive architecture decisions and partner with ML engineers, data engineers, and product teams to deliver scalable AI products.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Demonstrated experience deploying, operating, monitoring, and supporting machine learning systems in production.
- Experience building and owning ML pipelines, model deployment, serving, monitoring, or lifecycle infrastructure.
- Solid programming skills in Python, plus experience with web libraries such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
- Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker), CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments (Azure).
- Experience making architecture decisions and troubleshooting complex production systems for reliability, scalability, and performance.
- Ability to operate independently, take end-to-end ownership, and provide technical leadership within a highly collaborative engineering team.
