About the Role

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineer II, Field Service to join their world-class team. This role is crucial for enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer, offering a unique opportunity to be part of a diverse and collaborative company.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, repair, test, calibrate, and maintain electro-mechanical instrumentation and systems.
  • Inspect and/or test electronic and mechanical parts and components to drawing tolerances and written specifications.
  • Ensure continued customer satisfaction by providing high-quality and timely service and repair of electromechanical systems and products.
  • Perform basic problem-solving, installation, maintenance, and repair on designated equipment following technical service manuals.
  • Complete preventative maintenance and field upgrade modifications per instructions.
  • Manage repair parts cycle times.
  • Maintain customer service logs and internal service records.
  • Communicate with customers to ensure resolution and proper follow-up.
  • Maintain and calibrate tools and test equipment.
  • Meet Health and Human Services, Environment Health and Safety, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Apply internal processes to resolve customer service delivery issues and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Travel at least 75% of the time.
  • Be available to travel to any covered region when required.
  • Work independently to schedule planned maintenance and on-demand services.
  • Develop in-depth technical knowledge of One Lambda (TDX) equipment.
  • Provide field response to support all One Lambda automation.
  • Maintain confidentiality of critical laboratory and business data.
  • Define and implement work schedules within budgetary guidelines.
  • Maintain positive professional relationships with customers and the Sales Team.
  • Perform computer data entry meticulously.
  • Exercise independent discretion and judgment.
  • Plan and prioritize work reliably and consistently.
  • Reschedule planned services to prioritize ad hoc service calls.
  • Communicate clearly, orally and in writing, with management, team members, and third parties.
  • Maintain a high professional corporate image at all times.
  • Be a self-starter with the ability to positively motivate others.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff members and end-users.

Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, which includes a drug screening.
  • Ability to read and use schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Can interface comfortably with customers who may be in a stressful situation with a malfunctioning piece of equipment.
  • Ability to follow verbal directions and perform procedures as assigned.
  • Experience in reading, understanding, and implementing written and/or verbal assembly, test and inspection procedures.
  • Ability to solder.
  • Must communicate clearly both written and verbal.
  • Comfortable operating Windows 7 & 10 and have knowledge that including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Professional.
  • Ability to travel at minimum, two or more times per month.

Salary/Compensations

  • $28.85–$43.27 per hour
