About the Role
Pinterest is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead its Android Modernization team in Toronto. This role involves leading a team focused on empowering Android developers to build modern, world-class app experiences with high productivity, performance, and quality, leveraging AI as a partner.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and grow a specialized team of Android engineers.
- Set the team’s technical vision and roadmap in partnership with Client Platforms and cross-functional product teams.
- Drive platform modernization to help product teams adopt modern client architectures and build high-quality experiences.
- Improve client stability, health metrics, browser compatibility, runtime frameworks, and critical dependency currency.
- Establish clear operating rhythms for planning, sprints, risk management, and stakeholder updates.
- Hire, onboard, and develop engineers, creating an inclusive, high-performing team.
- Use AI to accelerate engineering workflows and modernization while maintaining code quality, security, and reliability.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in engineering, including 2+ years in engineering management.
- Strong technical judgment grounded in mobile Android engineering (e.g., Kotlin, Compose, MVVM).
- Experience partnering with Senior/Staff engineers to build high-impact roadmaps.
- Experience building platform capabilities that improve the productivity and effectiveness of product engineering teams.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience aligning priorities and driving delivery through ambiguity.
- Demonstrated ability to use AI to improve speed and quality in workflows, with a practice of validating AI-assisted work.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
