About the Role
Crusoe is seeking a Manager, HSE Communications to join the Internal Comms team. This role will focus on aligning, informing, and training employees on health, safety, and environment (HSE) across diverse operational environments. The ideal candidate is a skilled writer and visual communicator who can translate complex HSE topics into clear, consistent, and relevant messages for both desk-based and deskless employees. This position involves close collaboration with the corporate HSE team to develop and execute internal comms plans, and may extend to external communications to build the Crusoe brand. The role requires an AI-first mindset, leveraging AI tools to enhance communication strategies and output.
Responsibilities
- Partner with HSE subject matter experts to develop HSE narratives, translating complex topics into compelling stories.
- Own and execute an annual internal comms plan for HSE, reviewed and adjusted quarterly.
- Develop a channel strategy to reach deskless employees, including digital signage, SMS, shift huddles, printed materials, and mobile-first content.
- Produce video and multimedia content to effectively communicate safety information.
- Develop the playbook for HSE incident communications and lead the comms response during incidents.
- Collaborate with the HSE team to shape the delivery and communication of safety training content, onboarding materials, and toolbox talks.
- Equip managers and frontline supervisors with materials and context to cascade safety messaging.
- Develop thought leadership content, including blogs, op-eds, speaking content, and social posts, to establish Crusoe as an HSE leader.
- Monitor the HSE landscape for effective communication strategies and tactics.
- Direct the Brand Studio team to create brand assets for HSE communications with external audiences.
- Build and manage listening mechanisms, such as pulse surveys and feedback tools, to identify communication needs.
- Track audience metrics and outcomes to refine strategy and demonstrate effectiveness.
- Coordinate with Legal and HSE compliance on communications with regulatory exposure.
Requirements
- 5+ years in communications with a track record of running successful comms programs end-to-end.
- Exceptional audience-first writing skills: clear, relevant, consistent, with nuance and insight.
- AI-First Mindset: Daily use of AI in workflows and ability to adopt new tools.
- Experience in HSE; industrial, energy, construction, or manufacturing environments strongly preferred.
- Experience in crisis communications, including plan development and leading response efforts.
- Hands-on video skills: shooting, editing, and directing, or managing production partners.
- Experience reaching deskless workforces.
- High agency: comfortable executing with limited resources and high ambiguity.
- Strong collaboration skills across functions (HSE, Comms, Marketing, Legal).
- Results-oriented and metrics-driven with a history of achieving measurable outcomes.
- Willing and able to work in active industrial and construction environments, including required PPE and site safety training.
