About the Role
Build the application layer that connects our foundation model to users, focusing on client context, insights, policy cards, learning loops, agents, and scheduled work. You will start by working directly with customers in the field and then transition to developing reusable protocols and tools to streamline future deployments. This is a senior, individual contributor role reporting to the Director of Engineering with close collaboration with the CEO.
Responsibilities
- Build and measure the client context layer and retrieval.
- Develop the tool schema to expose platform data and insights, including uncertainty.
- Own the product's agent systems, including skill and instruction files as versioned, testable artifacts.
- Build durable, idempotent, and observable scheduled or event-driven agent work.
- Develop one insight pipeline rendering to chat, email, PDF, and API.
- Create the context schema and card structure for multi-tenant isolation and client IP protection.
- Ensure reliable execution of client-set policies, such as irrigation setpoints or crew instructions, with tracking and approvals.
- Implement eval suites, trace capture, drift monitoring, and per-client cost accounting.
Requirements
- Experience building and measuring production AI retrieval and context assembly, quantifying system usefulness.
- Proven ability to push repeatable work into deterministic code and use model calls judiciously.
- Shipped multi-tenant isolation in production, including tenant-scoped data, indexes, credential scoping, and secure deletion.
- Experience building a config or skill system used daily and modified by non-engineers.
- Operated an agent system in production, with experience addressing issues like silent drift, cost blowups, or duplicate job execution.
- Experience building eval suites, trace capture, or drift monitoring, with clear understanding of ground truth sources and arrival frequency.
- Likely has a full-stack or front-end web/application engineering background with a shift towards agentic systems.
- Demonstrated integration grit against client and legacy systems, including enterprise APIs, CSV over SFTP, and email deliverability.
