About the Role

Northstar Access is seeking a Jr. Business Development Specialist to join their Sales and Business Development team in Toronto, ON. This role focuses on establishing new business relationships within the commercial and industrial sectors, promoting temporary access solutions, and driving company growth by developing new customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Canvas and develop new scaffolding, swing stage, and mast climber accounts.
  • Explore new areas of temporary access services in the industrial, infrastructure, and commercial markets.
  • Secure opportunities with on-site decision-makers.
  • Establish and maintain contact with accounts.
  • Onboard new customers, including account setup, credit checks, and organizing administrative documents.
  • Meet pre-established KPIs, including sales goals, targets, and objectives.
  • Represent Northstar professionally at customer sites, industry events, and association meetings.
  • Review financial performance of new customers to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Attend intensive scaffolding training course.
  • Lead customer discovery, site assessments, solution development, presentations, proposal strategy, commercial negotiations, and closing activities.
  • Collaborate with Estimators & Design personnel to prepare proposals, quotations, and contracts.
  • Verify design requirements from drawings and written instructions, potentially working with 3rd party engineers.

Requirements

  • 1-2+ years of industry sales/business development/estimating experience in commercial and/or industrial markets.
  • Previous experience estimating/selling scaffolding or other access solutions is an asset but not a pre-requisite.
  • Previous experience managing or building scaffolding-related projects is an asset but not a pre-requisite.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Minimum Highschool diploma.
  • College and university degree preferred.
  • Agile and highly motivated self-starter who enjoys working in the construction field and is comfortable building new relationships.
  • Demonstrated track record of success in prospecting and growing new accounts.
  • Proven ability to network effectively with on-site project managers/site supervisors.
  • History of building and sustaining strong business relationships.
  • Some experience in creating proposals and spearheading the drafting of associated contracts and/or service agreements.
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision under tight time constraints.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Mathematical, mechanical, and logical reasoning abilities.
  • Basic knowledge and use of computer software: MS Office, CRM, lead platforms and databases.
  • Familiarity with CAD Software is helpful but not required.
  • A sense of urgency and capability to respond to matters in a timely manner.
  • Valid Driver's license in good standing with access to a vehicle during work hours.
