About the Role
The Intern Counselor will gain valuable, hands-on experience working closely with experienced counseling professionals. This role involves learning the delivery and implementation of long-term supervision, support, and clinical services.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments, intakes, and participate in level of care determinations.
- Complete administrative procedures for treatment admission and assist in treatment plan development.
- Facilitate admission or referral to other programs for clients needing services not offered.
- Provide individual, group, and/or family counseling services.
- Manage assigned caseload during treatment, focusing on appropriate levels of care and interventions.
- Provide backup coverage for clinical staff absences.
- Complete all necessary documentation and reports in a timely manner.
- Inform leadership of any problems or inability to meet deadlines.
- Actively participate in staff meetings, case conferences, and other unit meetings.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with referents and collateral contacts.
- Maintain communication and teamwork with clinical staff to enhance services.
- Conduct toxicology testing as needed.
- Oversee and/or coordinate care with managed care organizations for identified clients.
- Demonstrate initiative in task identification and completion.
- Use time efficiently and work with leadership to handle workload.
- Address program issues with the Program Coordinator related to strategic objectives and service delivery.
- Participate in and support agency quality improvement programs.
- Identify, plan, and implement appropriate activities under the direction of the Program Coordinator.
- Exercise due diligence in delivering quality care in line with the agency Medicaid Compliance Plan.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in human services, behavioral health social work and mental health, or related field required.
