About the Role
The Salvation Army exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs and be a transforming influence in the communities of our world. This role supports clients in residence and former clients, manages building safety and security, and assists with daily operations.
Responsibilities
- Model healthy life skills and socialization to clients.
- Provide support to clients in residence, and by telephone to clients and former clients.
- Manage building safety and security, including alarm systems, evacuation, and emergency management.
- Manage interpersonal crisis and conflict situations among clients.
- Manage behavior modification strategies with clients in consultation with the team.
- Train, assign, and supervise client chores and work therapy.
- Complete written communication, including log books, reports, and EMHWARE entries.
- Maintain professional communication with colleagues, management, clients, and the public.
- Safely manage the distribution of client medications.
- Admit and orient new clients to the residence.
- Answer doors, telephones, and accept deliveries.
- Prepare and serve meals.
- Perform housekeeping duties.
- Participate in team interactions and decision-making.
- Process client belongings on discharge.
- Ensure clients follow guidelines.
- Stock housekeeping supplies.
- Manage hazardous items such as cleaning supplies and sharps.
- Supervise client urine screens and breathalyzers.
- Support the Mission Statement and treatment philosophy.
- Maintain a drug and alcohol-free lifestyle while on Salvation Army property and on duty.
- Model appropriate professional dress.
- Participate in staff meetings.
- Participate in regular supervision and implement performance improvements.
- Represent The Salvation Army Homestead professionally.
- Be punctual and work all scheduled hours, notifying supervisors of absences.
Requirements
- Degree or diploma in one of the human services professions.
- Education, experience, or equivalent in working with women with addictions and other marginalized women.
- Develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
- Clear CPIC/VSS.
- Vulnerable Sector Check required (original, current, less than six months old, acceptable to The Salvation Army).
- Must be supportive of the mission of The Salvation Army.
