About the Role
Milton CAT is seeking highly driven, mechanically inclined individuals passionate about developing a career as a Heavy Equipment or Electric Power Generation technician to join the Milton CAT Diesel Technician Trainee program. This is a paid training program with a set start date in January 2027, and applications are being accepted now through mid-November.
Responsibilities
- Complete 2,000 hours of intensive training over a 12-month period, including 1,600 hours of hands-on, on-the-job training and 450 hours of instructor-led and computer-based learning.
- Rotate through various technical areas within facilities and work alongside experienced Caterpillar technicians.
- Participate in regional travel for on-site orientations and training classes at the corporate facility in Massachusetts (all expenses paid).
- Complete an online application to be considered for the highly selective program.
- Participate in an interview process.
- Upon successful completion, have the opportunity to be offered a full-time technician position at any Milton CAT or Milton Rents location.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1+ years of experience servicing heavy equipment, or equivalent education in automotive/diesel/related mechanical vocational program strongly preferred.
- Strong adherence to safety.
- Strong customer service, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Solid mechanical aptitude with a desire to learn and ability to adapt.
- Proficient in the use of computer technology (laptop and related software systems).
- Clean and valid driver’s license required.
