About the Role
As a Senior Data Scientist on the Client Data & Measurement team, you will leverage statistics, machine learning, and data visualizations to identify and build strategic opportunities for business growth. You will create data and analytical solutions, provide recommendations, and build trustworthy datasets to solve complex challenges and drive value across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Initiate and drive collaboration with stakeholders, architects, and data engineers to discover, define, cleanse, and refine data for analysis and modeling.
- Establish strong cross-departmental relationships to understand business problems and identify improvements.
- Analyze and build large, novel datasets to extract actionable insights for model development and to understand customer behavior or product performance.
- Prioritize projects based on business impact and value; lead and manage large-scale projects.
- Build models using a variety of statistical and machine learning techniques, including selecting appropriate models and optimizing performance.
- Become an expert in the Ibotta Data Ecosystem and assist teams in answering business questions using advanced analytic techniques.
- Inform experimental design to address major business challenges and innovation opportunities.
- Provide data science mentoring and education to the team and others across the company.

Requirements
- 5+ years of experience making significant impacts in a professional data science or machine learning role.
- A history of and passion for driving important decisions using data and data storytelling.
- A love of learning and continuous development, including staying at the forefront of the latest advances in data science and machine learning.
- Broad-scale community contributions to the fields of data science and machine learning in the way of conference presentations, professional publications, and/or recognized internet presence are a strong plus.
- Applied machine learning and statistical algorithms to optimize processes, predict outcomes, forecast trends, and enhance decision-making, driving improved efficiency and results.
- Expert-level Python knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Spark or PySpark experience is a strong plus.
- Excellent statistical analysis skills, with a solid understanding of experimental design and time series analysis a strong plus.
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Expert-level knowledge, skills, and abilities in database manipulation, query languages, and graph data schemas.
- Experience manipulating complex data to apply business rules for improved feature engineering within data lakes, distributed systems, and data streams.
- Experience in MLOps a strong plus but not required.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
