About the Role
We are seeking our first design leader to shape the user experience of our brand and products, starting with Iris, our climate risk platform. This role focuses on translating complex, technical outputs into understandable, trustworthy, and actionable insights for non-expert decision-makers. You will build a unified visual and narrative system across our product and brand touchpoints, ensuring a cohesive customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Own design direction across product and brand, creating a coherent system.
- Build experiences that drive adaptation and resilience decisions at scale.
- Set the experience architecture across products, including role-specific flows and reporting.
- Design how trust is communicated through provenance, uncertainty, and defensibility.
- Build and document brand identity, including visual language, voice, and collateral.
- Equip the go-to-market team with strong customer-facing materials.
- Collaborate directly with the founding team, Product, and Marketing.
- Utilize AI-enabled design and prototyping workflows for rapid iteration.
Requirements
- 8+ years in design with leadership scope, covering user experience, interaction, and visual design.
- Experience designing complex, data-heavy products for non-expert decision-makers in climate, risk, science, finance, or related fields.
- A portfolio showcasing shipped products and identity systems.
- Fluency in modern design tooling (Figma, component-based systems).
- Genuine curiosity about AI-assisted design workflows.
- Strong writing skills for narrative and microcopy.
- Experience directing other designers or external partners.
- US-based with the ability to be in NYC or SF regularly.
