About the Role
Supervises and coordinates an assigned production shift, ensuring proper handling and consistent quality of glass composition to meet corporate specifications and deliver a quality product to the Forming department.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate raw materials inventory with minimum demurrage.
- Control labor and overtime costs within budget.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Check and schedule Maintenance for repairs in raw materials unloading, mixing & melting operations.
- Schedule furnaces with temperature, tonnage pull, glass, computer, and refiner settings.
- Develop, train, and manage department employees.
- Perform computer input for status checks, temperature monitoring, joint settings, and printouts.
- Supervise and schedule all hotwork and rebuilds.
- Adjust fuel-air ratio computer and check oxygen analysis.
- Monitor glass quality by checking weights, color, and seed.
Requirements
- BS/BA degree in Ceramic or Chemical Engineering.
- 5 years of experience in a manufacturing/furnace environment.
- 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
