About the Role
We are seeking a Senior level environmental professional to support our Environmental Management and Assessment Team in the UK. This role involves managing environmental inputs to projects across various sectors, from concept to construction, ensuring environmental performance and sustainability.
Responsibilities
- Providing environmental advice and support to clients, project managers, and colleagues.
- Collaborating with specialists, clients, and engineering teams to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement.
- Managing the delivery of environmental inputs for projects, including EIA screening, scoping reports, environmental constraints studies, environmental management plans, and Environmental Statements.
- Overseeing project performance in technical, quality, commercial, and health and safety aspects.
- Building client relationships and identifying opportunities for support in resourcing, programming, strategy, and project delivery.
- Securing new work through proposal preparation, strategic bid contributions, and business development.
- Supporting the development of innovative techniques for business improvement.
- Mentoring and upskilling junior colleagues.
- Promoting an inclusive workplace and demonstrating commitment to health, safety, and wellbeing values.
- Contributing to the WSP business strategy and achieving role-specific goals.
Requirements
- A relevant environmental degree qualification in EIA, or similar.
- Achieved or working towards Chartered Environmental Status and Full membership of IEMA, or similar qualification with a relevant professional body.
- Experience of EIA and EIA processes with limited supervision in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Knowledge and experience of relevant environmental and planning legislation.
- Demonstrable post-qualified experience coordinating environmental assessments on various projects.
- Appreciation of project management activities, including commercial and risk aspects, forecasting, and quality assurance.
- Experience in work winning and bid preparation activities.
- Experience liaising with cross-discipline teams, clients, and external bodies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing with attention to detail.
- Demonstrable experience promoting a positive health, safety, and wellbeing culture.
