About the Role
Join our growing practice and work in an outpatient clinic and on our new Medical Van, serving adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. WIHD's mission is to create better futures for people with disabilities, vulnerable children, and their families and caregivers.
Responsibilities
- Participate in pre-visit planning by identifying applicable preventative health measures, flagging and following up on overdue labs, imaging, and consultations, acquiring outstanding medical documentation, and managing patient correspondence.
- Document and scan into the electronic medical record.
- Document comprehensive health assessment items including immunizations, screenings, medical, familial, and social history, behaviors affecting health, and advanced care planning.
- Assist the provider in the exam room with specimen collection, procedures, and patient exams.
- Provide patient and/or caregiver instruction and educational resources under the provider’s direction.
- Arrange prescription refills, prior authorizations, and pre-certifications.
- Maintain patient flow and organize exam rooms, including replenishing supplies and cleaning/sterilizing equipment.
- Perform other activities as directed and cover for other positions when needed.
- Participate in quality improvement activities.
- Attend all required meetings.
- Optionally drive Medical Van to provide healthcare visits in the community.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant certificate program.
- Current Certification - CMA or RMA.
- Externship/Internship.
- Knowledge of electronic medical record software.
- Experience performing EKG and Venipuncture.
- Phlebotomy Certification (Preferred).
- EKG Certification (Preferred).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) (Preferred).
- Experienced in the care of individuals with developmental disabilities (Preferred).
