About the Role
The Restaurant General Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the restaurant, including employee selection, development, and performance management. This role also oversees inventory and ordering, optimizes profits, and ensures guest and associate satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to company standards and service levels to increase sales and minimize costs.
- Complete financial and personnel/payroll administrative duties accurately and on time.
- Enforce sanitary practices for food handling, cleanliness, and maintenance.
- Ensure high quality of food preparation and service.
- Maintain professional restaurant image, including cleanliness, uniforms, and appearance.
- Manage food and beverage costs, supervise portion control, and minimize waste.
- Ensure impeccable service at all touch points.
- Conduct regular audits of steps of service and service style.
- Partner with departments to optimize guest experience.
- Develop a culture that fosters a luxury guest experience.
- Recognize special occasions genuinely and thoughtfully.
- Ensure proper Ecosure and State food safety practices and procedures are in place.
- Ensure a safe working and guest environment to reduce the risk of injury and accidents.
- Complete accident reports promptly.
- Manage shifts, including daily decision-making, scheduling, and planning.
- Uphold standards, product quality, and cleanliness during shifts.
- Investigate and resolve complaints concerning food quality and service.
- Provide direction to employees regarding operational and procedural standards and policies.
- Direct hiring, supervision, development, and corrective action of employees.
- Continue orientation and oversee the training of new employees.
- Develop employees through ongoing feedback, performance expectations, and daily stand-up meetings.
- Maintain an accurate plan of restaurant staffing needs.
- Prepare schedules and ensure adequate staffing for all shifts.
Requirements
- Must have at least 4+ years in a Management Role, preferably in a high-volume setting.
- Knowledge of computers (MS Word, Excel).
- Proficient in food planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation, food safety, company policies and procedures, personnel management, recordkeeping, and report preparation.
- Broad knowledge of beer, spirits, and wine with the ability to recognize and promote trends and capitalize on popular events.
- Responsible alcohol service certification required.
- Self-discipline, initiative, leadership ability, and outgoing personality.
- Pleasant, polite manner and a neat and clean appearance.
- Ability to motivate employees to work as a team.
- Ability to handle the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities.
- Ability to recommend appropriate solutions to restaurant problems.
- Good communication skills for dealing with diverse staff.
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks while maintaining required standards of operation.
- Ability to determine applicability of experience and qualifications of job applicants.
- Must be able to work varied hours including nights, holidays, and weekends.
