About the Role
We are seeking a General Education Teacher for an Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) Classroom at our Manhattan Children's Program. This role is for a 10-month school year (September-June) and includes a $5,000 sign-on bonus.
Responsibilities
- Plans and conducts classes/activities adapted to student needs.
- Assesses and prepares IFSP/IEPs, implementing and evaluating goals.
- Participates in student transitioning activities.
- Participates in Initial Evaluations and Intake processes.
- Provides annual educational assessment and evaluation in all domains.
- Prepares and adapts lesson plans, materials, and environmental modifications.
- Maintains records of attendance and progress, writing reports.
- Ensures student dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
- Participates in off-classroom activities like trips and library visits.
- Serves as a member of interdisciplinary teams and attends meetings.
- Attends staff meetings, student reviews, and conferences.
- Supervises, trains, and evaluates Teacher Assistants.
- Obtains approval and purchases class equipment and materials.
- Assists with transporting students.
- Implements universal precautions.
- Assists with toileting, feeding, and positioning.
- Attends supervisory and management meetings.
- Assists students with outer clothing.
- Substitutes in other classrooms as requested.
- Participates in in-service training.
- Confers with director regarding student programming and handling.
- Initiates precautions to ensure work is free from hazards.
- Attends parent meetings and confers with parents on program content and progress.
- Assists with curriculum development.
- Provides supervision and training to student teachers.
- Stays informed of changes in the field.
- Performs other related duties as requested.
Requirements
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Good organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in personal computer use and appropriate software.
- Good interpersonal skills for effective interaction with colleagues, employees, children, parents, and outside contacts.
- Must maintain confidentiality of student records.
- Must maintain confidentiality of staff records.
- Ability to analyze problems and determine corrective measures.
- Must be available Monday-Friday, 8am-3pm.

- New York State Certification in Early Childhood Education (Birth-2nd Grade)
- Bachelor's Degree and currently obtaining Master's Degree and/or Early Childhood Education Certification (qualifies for Study Plan)
Salary/Compensations
- $67,705.57 - $79,567.50 Annually
