About the Role

Responsibilities

Underwriting and winning new business across the Care, Social Welfare and Charity sectors
Assessing submissions, reviewing claims experience and evaluating risk exposures
Producing competitive quotations whilst maintaining underwriting discipline
Managing and delivering against individual new business income targets
Building strong broker relationships and becoming a trusted market contact
Supporting broker development activity, training sessions and proposition discussions
Working collaboratively with Distribution, Trading and Operations teams
Identifying market trends and opportunities to support future growth
Acting as a specialist ambassador for Markel's Care proposition within the broker market

Requirements

Previous underwriting experience
Care Insurance or Charity Insurance experience
New business underwriting experience
Strong commercial judgement and decision-making capability
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
The ability to work independently and manage your own workload
A proactive approach to broker engagement and business development
Existing broker relationships
Experience presenting to brokers or delivering training sessions
Social Welfare underwriting exposure
Ambition to progress your underwriting career within a specialist insurer
