About the Role
The CNC Milling Machinist performs detailed machine setups on 3, 4, and 5 axis CNC Milling Machines. This role requires a high level of skill in setup and troubleshooting, performing necessary inspection steps, and operating with minimum supervision to make adjustments and process improvements for high-quality products. The position involves operating production for complex products and providing training to less experienced machinists.
Responsibilities
- Perform machine setups quickly, accurately, and efficiently on all 3, 4, and 5 Axis milling equipment.
- Load, prove out, and maintain CNC programs, collaborating with engineering on improvements.
- Operate machines for production runs, including controls, offsets, and simple edits.
- Inspect parts for conformance to process, inspection sheets, and drawings.
- Communicate with supervisors, engineers, and other personnel regarding assignments and issues.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area and perform basic preventative maintenance.
- Monitor and document operational issues and provide feedback.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and supervisors.
- Adhere to state and federal laws, AS9100 quality program, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Proficient knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments (Micro-Height Gages, Micrometers, Calipers, Depth gages, Indicators, Dial Bore Gages).
- Strong skills in inspecting and verifying finished products.
- G & M code fluency and ability to edit programs.
- Knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an understanding of geometric tolerance and dimensions.
- Knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts, and other machine accessories.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Strong verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to handle complexity.
- Capability to work in a customer-focused, deadline-driven environment with a positive attitude.
- Willingness to learn from peers, engineering, and programming teams.
- Ability to run multiple machines independently or in a team.
- CNC Turning experience is a plus.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
