About the Role
The Anti-Violence Project (AVP) seeks two part-time Hotline Support Specialists to assist the Manager of Hotline Programs. This role ensures LGBTQ and HIV-affected survivors of violence receive affirming, inclusive, and trauma-informed support and services.
Responsibilities
- Staff AVP’s English/Spanish hotline
- Answer and respond to community outreach via AVP’s English/Spanish hotline
- Return voicemails or messages, providing resources, referrals, and intake screenings
- Complete need-based screenings and assessments with callers
- Connect callers to appropriate AVP services or vetted community resources
- Work closely with AVP hotline volunteers
Requirements
- Comfortable and confident in a multi-disciplinary, direct service/crisis management setting
- Capacity to set effective boundaries
- Honor confidentiality
- Detail-oriented
- Commitment to ending violence within and against LGBTQ and HIV-affected people and communities
- Experience working with LGBTQ and HIV-affected people, communities, and survivors of violence
- Experience providing crisis intervention and support
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Must be comfortable and confident in working in a multi-disciplinary, direct service / crisis management setting
- Must have the capacity to set effective boundaries
- Must honor confidentiality
- Must be detail-oriented, and ready to dive into trauma-informed, anti-violence work with queer, trans, and HIV-affected communities
- Background pre-hire screenings may be required
