About the Role
As a member of the Pharmacy Operations team, this full-time, temporary (12 months) Pharmacy Technician will provide technical functions related to medication preparation, dispensing, and distribution to inpatients and outpatient clinics using a computerized system.
Responsibilities
- Unit-dose dispensing
- Maintaining ward stock
- Delivery of medication
- Purchasing and inventory control activities
- Performing compounding of pharmaceutical products
- Monitoring usage and expiry dates
- Maintaining storage conditions and pharmacy equipment
- Auditing and reporting discrepancies
- Outpatient dispensing as required
- Supporting and participating in mentorship to learners
- Supporting and participating in risk management
- Supporting and participating in patient safety
- Supporting and participating in quality improvement activities
- Practicing to the full scope, including independent double checking
- Performing additional duties as assigned by the department/program
- Performing work in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations, professional standards and guidelines, and CAMH corporate and departmental policies and procedures
- Supporting a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements
Requirements
- Registered with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as a Part A Pharmacy Technician
- Previous experience in a hospital environment and computerized systems would be advantageous
- Good knowledge of pharmacy practices and pharmacy mathematics
- Effective organization and time management skills
- Ability to perform duties with flexibility
- Ability to perform duties with a great degree of accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and the patient population
- Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be an asset
