About the Role

Hydro One is seeking a professional to develop, file, and defend regulatory proceedings and compliance challenges. This role involves leading multi-disciplinary teams, collaborating with the Ontario Energy Board (OEB), and providing expert advice on regulatory policies and strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development, approval, and submission of regulatory filings to the OEB for various financial and compliance matters.
  • Advise Lines of Business on regulatory policies, strategies, and their implications.
  • Contribute to the development of company strategies, tactics, and positions for regulatory issues.
  • Conduct risk assessments and business analysis to support regulatory strategies.
  • Collaborate with expert staff to prepare regulatory submissions and achieve business objectives.
  • Support and develop business relationships with the OEB and other external agencies.
  • Develop and maintain a network of internal and external business associates.
  • Negotiate positions on controversial matters to align with company objectives and achieve favorable OEB decisions.
  • Identify deliverables, plan, schedule, and assign tasks for regulatory submissions.
  • Monitor progress of deliverables, assess quality, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Prepare and present reports on project status and required corrective actions.
  • Develop budgets for submissions, obtain approvals, and establish cost control mechanisms.
  • Prepare financial status reports for projects.
  • Advise Supervisor, Vice President, and Chief Regulatory Officer on team member effectiveness.
  • Assist in formulating process improvements to streamline regulatory approvals.
  • Support the development of regulatory-based special studies.
  • Participate on OEB-led industry teams related to regulatory matters.
  • Establish a comprehensive understanding of OEB legislation, rules, licenses, and codes.
  • Act as a subject matter expert within the company for specific regulatory areas.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Requires a knowledge of financial concepts, economics, engineering, quantitative analysis, and statistics to develop business strategies and cases.
  • Requires a good knowledge of English for effective written submissions and presentations.
  • Requires knowledge of computer applications for developing submissions and presentations.
  • Requires experience in Finance, Asset Management, Field Operations, or Engineering Services.
  • Requires involvement with regulatory products issued by the OEB.
  • Requires experience in project management, conducting business analysis, and developing business cases.
  • Requires experience working with internal and external staff and OEB/Industry and/or utility staff on external industry-based initiatives.
