About the Role
Provide relief and backup support for company drivers on vacation or other time off. This role may involve on-call relief, covering partial trips, or filling in due to staffing needs. The position requires knowledge of multiple delivery routes and the ability to drive Class B vehicles, ensuring safe and timely product delivery to customers.
Responsibilities
- Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with DOT and DFA rules, regulations, and policies, adhering to all safety practices.
- Deliver pre-ordered or unscheduled products to customers according to route schedule and customer delivery expectations in a safe and timely manner.
- Follow designated routes and schedules unless otherwise directed by supervisory personnel.
- Report delivery delays to management due to road conditions, accidents, or breakdowns.
- Load and unload product as required at designated stops, which may include stocking, rotating, and/or ordering of product.
- Collect empty cases.
- Provide merchandising support based on customer requirements and promote the addition and sales of new products if appropriate.
- Communicate effectively and maintain good relations with customers, resolve customer complaints, and report any problems to the driver supervisor or manager.
- Ensure and/or perform proper maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment, including performing checks and maintaining a clean vehicle.
- Ensure load is properly secured prior to travel and at each stop and make adjustments when needed.
- Complete all daily paperwork fully and correctly each day, including DOT and customer paperwork.
- Submit all customer paperwork and deposits daily.
- Ensure sufficient route inventory levels to meet customer demands while adhering to account inventory control and company distribution procedures.
- Document condition of freight before departure.
- Attend all driver workshops and training sessions.
- Use company supported applications or systems properly.
- Represent DFA positively and professionally at all times during interactions with customers or other individuals.
Requirements
- Must meet minimum age requirements.
- Must meet DFA requirements for Motor Vehicle Records.
- Must meet all DOT requirements.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English.

Experience Level
- Up to 2 years of experience driving a straight truck or pup truck, within the last 5 years preferred
Education Level
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class B/Class B with Air Brake CDL
