About the Role

Responsibilities
- Assess the Development team to ensure appropriate alignment and allocation of resources and personnel across development functions and programs.
- Evolve the data strategy, creating structure and automating systems to leverage data in support of continued growth.
- Optimize and grow communications, events, and annual fund, defining goals, creating data efficiencies, encouraging cross-functional collaboration, documenting workflows, and creating accountability.
- Provide analysis and regular reports to leadership on fundraising performance, donor trends, and operational metrics to guide strategy and measure impact.
- Develop and produce dashboards and performance reports that guide fundraising strategy and measure KPIs.
- Develop a business plan to maximize the potential of Bike HSS, including conducting a brand evaluation and strategic re-brand transition.
- Create and execute a robust corporate giving strategy.
- Further define and build a donor stewardship program that utilizes best practices and creates standards across giving levels, with a particular focus on donors of $1M and above.
- Automate routine processes and optimize workflows for gift acceptance and processing, donor and patient confidentiality, financial regulations, and data management.
- Partner with HSS IT, finance, research administration, clinical programs, and marketing team to align fundraising operations with organizational goals.
- Recruit, mentor, develop, evaluate, and retain an industry-leading team of development professionals with a strategy and growth mindset.
- Ensure that programs drive a culture of philanthropy and strategic engagement of key stakeholders.
- Embody and model the purpose and mission of Hospital for Special Surgery.
Requirements
- Ten or more years of progressive management experience in healthcare fundraising and operations, including experience in an academic medicine environment.
- Experience overseeing a CRM conversion is preferred.
- Possess energy and drive to succeed in HSS’s dynamic, fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.
Skills
- Deep technical competence in CRM management and success managing technical teams.
- Knowledge of current and emerging technology to seamlessly integrate new technology that enhances reporting, analytics, research, and prospect management.
- Deep knowledge of industry best practices and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Solid background in program and project management including planning, budgeting, resource allocation, stakeholder engagement, risk management, prioritization, and decision-making.
- Strategic thinking with a performance and growth mindset.
- Collaborative approach to working with executive and medical leadership, development colleagues, and staff.
