About the Role

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will operate across multiple levels including team, domain, and the wider Tech organization. You will provide hands-on technical mentorship, drive critical initiatives, partner with Engineering, Product, and Data counterparts, and contribute to the evolution of your Chapter Vision & Strategy. You will also improve the overall developer experience and critically question and drive improvement across the organization.

Responsibilities

Provide hands-on technical mentorship to teams.
Drive critical, complex initiatives impacting multiple teams.
Partner with Engineering, Product, and Data counterparts to drive system and process improvements.
Simplify complexity and remove bottlenecks.
Drive the RFC review process to foster broad insight into app architecture.
Contribute to the evolution of your Chapter Vision & Strategy.
Sponsor and drive key Chapter initiatives.
Orchestrate mentorship efforts across the wider tech org.
Contribute to the improvement of overall developer experience.
Critically question and drive improvement across the org.
Assume end-to-end ownership of a specific system area.
Amplify knowledge and support others in developing products.

Requirements

Empathetic and able to easily build relationships.
Great verbal and written communication skills.
Humble, curious, and open-minded with a growth mindset, thriving on continuous feedback.
Great understanding of lean/agile values & principles and associated practices.
Solid experience building large-scale applications using modern programming languages (e.g. C#, Java, Go, etc.).
Proven ability to mentor other engineers.
8+ years of software engineering experience.
2+ years of experience within an Extreme Programming environment (TDD, Pair Programming, Simple Design, and Continuous Refactoring).
Expert in Distributed Systems Architecture (Microservices, Event-Driven, RESTful Services).
Familiarity with the general mobile landscape, architectures, trends/emerging tech.
Proficient in testing with focus on automated end to end quality.
Experience working with relational and nonrelational databases.
Exposed to cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
Experience building, maintaining, and improving with Trunk Based Development and Continuous Delivery.
