About the Role
This role supports development activities and a team overseeing the re-factoring of application components. You will work directly alongside technical specialists and client teams to deliver key application changes required for a successful platform migration.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and assure key application components to support the re-factoring of legacy software systems.
- Collaborate directly with consultant specialists, client engineers, and wider programme teams to execute migration plans.
- Write clean, maintainable code using Java and Spring within a UNIX environment.
- Utilize GitLab for source control, continuous integration practices, and code reviews.
- Identify code optimizations, fix technical defects, and support quality assurance testing.
- Contribute to technical implementation docs and system architecture updates for the LTD Programme.
Requirements
- Strong technical background with foundational experience in software engineering.
- Core proficiency in Java development, ideally with hands-on experience using the Spring framework.
- Practical familiarity working in UNIX environments and writing standard shell commands.
- Experience querying and working with SQL databases.
- Familiarity with Git workflows and version control management using GitLab.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and an eagerness to contribute to complex system migrations.
