About the Role

This role focuses on the non-contentious side of the Financial Services and Regulation practice in London, supporting lawyers with legal issues, research, and precedent maintenance. It involves knowledge support for business development, delivering legal training, preparing publications, and contributing to the team's know-how strategy. The position is to cover a maternity leave.

Responsibilities

Act as a sounding board for lawyers to discuss legal issues and provide research assistance.
Maintain existing precedents and draft new ones, including complex documents.
Maintain existing practice notes and draft new ones, including from scratch in complex areas of law.
Provide knowledge support to business development initiatives, including prominent roles in key industry sectors and Key Client initiatives.
Prepare and deliver legal training to associates, partners, and clients.
Prepare scripts and participate in webinars, videos, and podcasts.
Draft high-level material for external or internal publications and work with partners and PR to identify topics of interest.
Prepare UK updates for the Regulation Tomorrow blog.
Assist partners and senior associates with their participation in industry bodies.
Feed into the team’s know-how strategy and implement it by promoting internal databases and devising systems for know-how collection.
Manage other team members.

Requirements

Qualified lawyer with significant legal experience in financial services regulation operating at a senior level.
Recognized as an expert in a specialist area.
Experience in drafting complex documents in plain language.
Experience in designing and delivering successful, interesting, and innovative training programs targeted to the audience.
Ability to work with a variety of personalities across all levels of the organization.
Experience, or interest, in the collation, storage, and delivery of knowledge.
Project management experience and demonstrated creativity in problem-solving.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent legal research skills.
Exceptional organizational skills with an ability to demonstrate initiative and flexibility adapting to changing priorities.
Strong client focus and demonstrated commitment to outstanding service delivery.
Demonstrated team leadership skills.
Demonstrated capacity for lucid and accurate reporting to management.
Strong IT skills and familiarity with document management software.
