About the Role
Senior Medical Writers drive day-to-day project delivery to create outstanding medical content across various therapy areas. This position is ideal for an experienced writer passionate about scientific and medical developments, interested in AI, and enjoys tackling new problems, interacting with clients, and mentoring team members.
Responsibilities
- Confidently steps into new therapeutic areas.
- Leads discussions with clients and external experts on therapy area, drivers which influence treatment decision-making and patient pathways.
- Helps to lead meetings and strategic discussions with clients.
- Proactively utilizes a broad range of AI solutions to streamline complex projects.
- Evaluates and implements AI-driven solutions to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provides guidance and training to team members on AI best practices.
- Leads content delivery for complex projects with supervision, delegating as needed to ensure timely execution to a high standard.
- Achieves communications objectives by employing a broad range of channels and formats.
- Interrogates briefs from clients/internal teams and proactively flags queries or potential issues.
- Applies critical thinking to achieve deliverables in a timely and efficient manner.
- Provides a proactive, solution-focused approach to resolving queries and addressing feedback.
- Initiates discussions with Account Teams regarding potential barriers to successful project completion.
- Develops compelling narratives from complex information.
- Structures and writes novel projects.
- Takes responsibility for the overall quality of deliverables with supervision.
- Reviews junior writers' work for adherence to brief, client objectives, and quality of writing, providing constructive feedback.
- Leads elements of the on-site programme across a variety of events.
- Leads scientific discussion with clients and external experts to capture briefs, resolve queries, and progress scientific content development.
- Supports development of scientific content for new therapeutic areas for new business.
- Proactively identifies new business opportunities with new and existing clients.
- Provides timely and accurate communication to accounts team on writer hours and project progress.
- Trains/mentors junior writers on account-specific therapy area knowledge and processes.
Requirements
- Strong scientific background with a degree in a scientific or medical discipline (post-graduate degree preferred).
- High level of academic achievement expected.
- Previous experience of medical writing at an MW level or above.
- Passion for, and profound understanding of, healthcare, science, medicine, and the pharmaceutical industry.
- Keen interest in AI technologies.
- Personable, articulate, and capable of nurturing relationships.
- Previous experience mentoring MWs and interacting regularly with clients is essential.
