About the Role

PAIR Finance is seeking a senior software engineer to drive end-to-end ownership of an AI-driven platform that redefines debt collection. This role involves technical leadership within a defined scope, with a focus on learning the legal processes of In-Court and After-Court debt collection.

Responsibilities

Own a clear scope end-to-end, taking initiative from idea to production largely independently.
Lead within the team, pairing with one other developer.
Design, build, and run Proofs of Concept (POCs) quickly to de-risk decisions.
Develop, optimize, and maintain core backend applications and services.
Work on high-level architecture to ensure scalability, performance, availability, and security.
Gain deep understanding of the In-Court/After-Court domain, including legal and procedural knowledge.
Collaborate closely with product teams to shape the roadmap and drive company growth.
Utilize AI-augmented tools like Claude Code in the development process.
Help evolve and enhance the AI-based platform.
Stay current with industry trends and share insights with the team.

Requirements

5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 1+ year on medium-to-large projects.
Strong backend experience in Ruby (Ruby on Rails).
Proven ability to work independently, scoping, driving, and delivering projects with minimal supervision.
Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD).
A track record of writing clean, maintainable backend code and solid infrastructure.
Comfortable working in an Agile environment (Scrum, Kanban).
Genuine interest in working with and building on top of AI-based technologies.
Solid English communication skills.
