About the Role
Prevail is a new foundation dedicated to pursuing bold goals by coordinating philanthropists with a similar vision and making grants with high levels of in-field support. This role will serve as a thought partner to colleagues, a career mentor to direct reports, and play a direct advisory role on high-priority projects, acting as a team "force multiplier."
Responsibilities
- Coordinate all team activities to ensure clear and efficient communication.
- Motivate the team, multiply energy and human connection, and own team performance, including feedback culture, individual goal-setting, and performance reviews.
- Help team members build skills and create a supportive feedback culture.
- Manage at least 4-5 direct reports and likely skip-reports.
- Own the strategy-setting process, translate it into goals and OKRs, and communicate frequently within the team.
- Structure the team for scale by owning budget, headcount, roles, and profiles.
- Spend considerable time on informational interviews, drafting interview exercises, managing hiring processes, and finding new candidates.
- Serve as a thought partner on high-priority projects or step in to do the work if needed.
- Act as the primary resource for team members and for communication from the Philanthropy team outwards and externally.
Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant experience, with multiple years in a management and/or leadership role.
- Interest in big-bet philanthropy and/or global development.
- Ability to deeply listen to and internalize stakeholder priorities.
- Sharp judgment and consistently high-quality delivery.
- Extremely organized with the ability to manage multiple high-stakes work streams.
- Excellent writing and speaking skills, communicating from the listener's perspective.
- Structured and succinct communication style.
- Belief in the importance of over-communication.
- Genuine care for colleagues and a desire to help them achieve their best.
- Passion for the social mission.
- Humor, patience, and a humble approach to service.
- Readiness to grow by acting on frequent feedback.
