About the Role

As a Legal Counsel for a foreign life insurance company, you will collaborate with internal departments and provide legal advice on daily operations, under the guidance of senior management.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to legal inquiries and consultations from various departments, providing advice based on expertise in insurance law, civil law (contract law, inheritance law), the Insurance Business Act, the Act on the Protection of Personal Information, and dispute prevention/resolution.
  • Handle dispute resolution, including negotiation support for ADR and pre-litigation stages, leading ADR cases, and managing external counsel and business units in litigation.
  • Provide legal advice from a legal perspective within cross-organizational teams during new projects or incident responses, supporting the appropriate execution of projects or resolution of incidents.
  • Review daily contracts, including outsourcing agreements.
  • Conduct internal seminars and other related duties.

Requirements

  • Native level Japanese and business level English.
  • Japanese Bar Association qualification.
  • Practical experience in corporate legal affairs or at a law firm.
