About the Role
This is a casual Occupational Therapist, Level 1 (Year 1-4) position, Monday to Friday, working up to 5 days per week. The role involves providing high-quality Occupational Therapy services to inpatients across various clinical areas including Acute Inpatients, Rehabilitation, and Palliative Care, with flexibility to support other areas and participate in weekend rosters. Key responsibilities include assessing patient needs, implementing interventions, contributing to service evaluation, participating in quality improvement initiatives, and promoting the responsible use of resources.
Responsibilities
- Provide a high-quality Occupational Therapy service to inpatients across St Vincent’s Hospital, including Acute Inpatients, Rehabilitation and Palliative Care, with flexibility to support other clinical areas and participate in a weekend roster as required
- Determine patients’ occupational needs through standardised and functional assessments, designing and implementing patient-centred interventions with a focus on therapy, discharge planning and patient flow
- Contribute to the evaluation of Occupational Therapy services, including the collection of activity and outcome data
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research within Occupational Therapy
- Promote the responsible and effective use of Occupational Therapy equipment, departmental and organisational resources
Requirements
- Current Australian Occupational Therapy Registration (AHPRA)
- Hold a current unrestricted NSW Class C Driver’s License
- Previous post-graduate Occupational Therapy experience in acute and sub-acute hospital settings across various clinical areas including neurology, general medicine/surgery, and rehabilitation within a multidisciplinary team context
- Demonstrated experience in clinical management with the ability to apply clinical reasoning skills and independent professional judgment on routine matters
- Demonstrated experience with quality improvement and a commitment to ongoing professional development
- Knowledge of current standards of Occupational Therapy clinical practice / Code of Ethics
- Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or have an Australia visa that grants the necessary work rights
