About the Role

NSW Private Hospitals is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Coding Support Officer (CSO) to join the Health Information Services (HIS) team at Mater Hospital & Sydney Private Hospital. This role is essential in supporting the Clinical Coding function to ensure the timely and complete processing of hospital separations. You will manage coding workflows, resolve documentation queries, and ensure accurate and complete clinical information is available for coding.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage outstanding clinical coding workloads and hospital separations.
  • Liaise with Visiting Medical Officers (VMOs), Practice Managers, and external providers to resolve clinical documentation queries.
  • Generate and analyse reporting systems (e.g. Webpas) to track and prioritise discharge coding.
  • Support the coding team by coordinating outstanding documentation.
  • Assist with internal and external coding audits, including system access and documentation retrieval.

Requirements

  • Experience in a hospital or health information environment is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of health information systems (e.g. Webpas, deLacy) is desirable.
  • Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or have an Australian visa that grants the necessary work rights.
