About the Role
The Security Officer is responsible for the safety and well-being of all members, guests, and employees at the Club. This role deters, detects, and responds to potential or active threats directed at members, guests, employees, and property, acting within Club Security Department policy guidelines. You will contribute to creating the Discovery Land Company experience.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure residential and working environment by identifying, treating, and reducing threats and workplace risks.
- Conduct seamless entry for all authorized individuals into the property.
- Prevent unauthorized access to the property and its facilities.
- Provide medical response capability to members, guests, and employees on club property.
- Investigate and respond to significant incidents or accidents as directed.
- Provide emergency management advice during natural disaster events.
- Adhere to all company service and operating standards.
- Remain in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Enforce the club’s health and safety policies.
- Maintain a personal "concierge" security approach for all members, guests, and employees.
- Become versed in Use of Force application as dictated by company policy.
- Effectively manage Use of Force incidents, limiting liability, minimizing disruptions, and preventing injuries.
Requirements
- Prior experience in Security, Law enforcement, Military, or Customer Service.
- Valid New York Driver’s License.
- Clear Criminal Background.
- High school diploma, GED, or higher education.
- Must possess, or have the ability to obtain, a State of New York Guard Card.
- Must be able to work and stand inside/outside during all weather conditions.
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain certifications in CPR, AED, and First Aid.
- Must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of basic computer functions and programs (Word, Excel, Outlook Email, etc.).
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently in high duress situations.
- Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Long hours may be required due to business demands.
- Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
