About the Role
ARCO/Murray International Construction is seeking a Traveling Superintendent to lead ground-up cold storage, light industrial, and other commercial construction projects across Canada. This role involves managing all administrative tasks and field operations for projects from day one, empowering you to complete projects on schedule, within budget, and to specifications.
Responsibilities
- Attend post-award review meetings for project preplanning.
- Participate in preparing construction schedules, organization structure, staff selection, and resource requirements.
- Direct and control construction projects to meet specifications, timelines, and profit goals.
- Assist the project manager with material shipment, equipment, and shop drawing approvals.
- Coordinate subcontractor activities for effective integration with project schedules.
- Inform supervisors and subcontractors of construction schedule changes.
- Assist in preparing job progress and cost reports.
- Review and approve requisitions, field purchase orders, invoices, and other reports.
- Cooperate with the owner and representatives regarding construction progress.
- Cooperate with architects or owner representatives in the company's long-term interest.
- Hold job site meetings with project manager and regional manager.
- Report regularly to the project manager on job progress, plans, and potential cost/schedule impacts.
- Maintain a daily diary of significant project facts, events, conditions, and commitments.
- Direct adherence to the company's safety program.
- Make decisions under tight deadlines.
- Organize people, tools, and equipment; plan and manage multiple activities.
- Demonstrate leadership skills, including facing challenges, directing others, and addressing conflict.
- Exhibit commitment to quality by evaluating and improving processes and meeting customer expectations.
- Act with integrity, supporting the company's values and employees while meeting customer requirements.
Requirements
- 5-25 years of construction experience.
- At least 5 years of experience as a lead superintendent on jobs.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Proficiency in using project scheduling programs.
- Possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license.
