About the Role
London Business School is seeking a Senior Azure DevOps Engineer to enhance their engineering capabilities and improve technology development, deployment, and operation processes. This role involves assessing current DevOps practices, recommending and implementing improvements, and collaborating with various teams to ensure automated, secure, reliable, and predictable technology delivery.
Responsibilities
- Take senior technical ownership across the DevOps capability.
- Design, implement, and improve Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, reusable YAML templates, and deployment controls.
- Drive adoption of Infrastructure as Code using technologies like Terraform.
- Improve automation for build, release, environment provisioning, and operational processes.
- Develop and evolve practical DevOps standards, patterns, and reusable engineering approaches.
- Help teams improve release quality, deployment reliability, rollback capability, and operational readiness.
- Strengthen monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability across applications and platforms.
- Embed security into pipelines and cloud infrastructure, including secrets management, identity controls, and automated security checks.
- Identify technical debt, manual processes, and recurring operational issues, turning them into prioritized improvement opportunities.
- Work across multiple teams to resolve dependencies and differing levels of DevOps maturity.
- Coach and enable engineers to embed good DevOps practices across teams.
- Translate agreed engineering priorities into a pragmatic, phased DevOps improvement roadmap and drive its delivery.
Requirements
- Be an experienced DevOps or cloud engineer comfortable operating with a high degree of independence.
- Possess strong hands-on Azure expertise.
- Demonstrate strong experience with Azure and Azure DevOps.
- Show deep understanding of CI/CD and experience designing scalable deployment pipelines.
- Have strong practical experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly Terraform.
- Exhibit experience implementing effective monitoring, logging, and alerting.
- Possess a good understanding of Git, branching strategies, and modern release and deployment approaches.
- Have experience embedding security and governance into cloud and pipeline configurations.
- Demonstrate the ability to take ambiguous technical problems from discovery through recommendation, implementation, and adoption.
- Show strong judgment when balancing delivery priorities, operational risk, and longer-term engineering improvement.
- Possess the confidence to challenge existing approaches constructively and recommend better alternatives.
- Have experience influencing engineering standards and securing adoption across multiple teams.
- Exhibit a collaborative approach and the ability to coach and enable other engineers.
