About the Role
Base is building a vertically-integrated residential energy company. As a Supply Chain Tooling & Optimization Intern, you will work directly with teams building internally developed TMS, WMS, and MRP systems and scaling deployments. You will own real problems at the intersection of manufacturing, logistics, and software, building tools and intelligent layers to improve battery installation speed and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Build internal tools, dashboards, and trackers to increase supply chain visibility.
- Contribute to internally built TMS, WMS, and MRP by developing data pipelines, integrations, and models.
- Analyze operational data from ERP, supplier portals, and shipping systems to identify bottlenecks, blocked orders, and disruptions.
- Prototype inventory and network optimization solutions, including multi-site/multi-warehouse stock optimization, warehouse slotting, and staffing/labor planning.
- Build initial forecasting models for material demand and supplier commitment reliability.
- Integrate solutions into existing planner tools, prioritizing simple, effective methods.
- Collaborate with planners, buyers, and operations managers to define MVPs, deploy solutions, and iterate based on feedback.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Industrial/Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain, Data Science, or a related field.
- Proficient in Python and SQL.
- Demonstrated interest in building tools, beyond just data analysis.
- Exposure to optimization/operations research or basic ML/anomaly detection (coursework, projects, or prior internships).
- Familiarity with data analysis and dashboarding.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Builder mindset: enjoys ambiguity, takes ownership, and is motivated to improve processes.
- Experience in a tech-enabled operations environment (energy, logistics, or manufacturing) is a plus.
