About the Role
The Accounts Payable Lead plays a key part in the success of the finance function, taking sole ownership of accounts payable, supplier payments, and invoice/expense processing for both UK and US entities. This hands-on role requires comfort with process ownership, analysis, supplier communication, reconciliation, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced FMCG environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage the purchase order process and ensure all invoices are correctly authorized.
- Post supplier invoices and expenses accurately and on time.
- Obtain supplier statements and reconcile with the ledger for completeness.
- Handle day-to-day supplier queries.
- Ensure accuracy of VAT codes on expenses and invoices.
- Prepare and manage weekly payment runs and payment of staff expenses.
- Complete bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Reconcile the accounts payable ledger at month-end.
- Train new staff members on expenses and purchase order processes.
- Assist with year-end audit queries.
- Suggest system improvements and implement process changes for efficiencies.
- Support the restructuring of the Finance team and processes.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Accounts Payable Lead or similar.
- Experience in a fast-paced environment with a solid understanding of a good AP end-to-end process.
- Ability to be a problem solver who can take ownership of a process.
- Experience working with Xero, Pleo, and ApprovalMax (preferred).
- Experience in a high growth FMCG environment (preferred).
- Familiarity with Drinks/Coffee/Oat milk manufacturing business (preferred).
