Responsibilities

  • Enter, research, and analyze employee payroll and tax data, including garnishments, absence management, and new hires, to process weekly and bi-weekly payroll.
  • Assist in calculating and preparing corporate payroll tax filings for timely remittance of Federal, State, and Local taxes.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll processing systems, changes in garnishment, wage and tax laws, deductions, and FMLA industry trends.
  • Research and resolve complex employee and system issues to ensure accurate payroll processing, including calculating taxable wages.
  • Correspond with internal and external departments and employees to resolve concerns related to federal, state, and local taxation.
  • Participate in project teams as a Payroll representative to ensure department needs are met.
  • Provide second-level responses to inquiries via email, mail, and phone, adhering to department policies.
  • Communicate issues and provide status updates to the Leadership team.
  • Generate, review, and distribute reports to ensure data accuracy and compliance with Federal, State, and local laws and Paychex policies.
  • Attend monthly team and department meetings for continuous development and present specific topics if requested.
  • Train new employees and cross-train existing employees on procedures and procedure changes.
  • Write and review department procedures to ensure accuracy and recommend changes as needed.
