About the Role
We are hiring our first product manager to own improvements to how our firm delivers legal services. This role involves understanding attorney workflows, client experiences, and translating insights into software enhancements.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with attorneys and clients to understand service breakdowns and software contributions.
- Translate interviews, support requests, usage data, and workflow observations into a prioritized backlog.
- Make clear tradeoffs between bugs, usability improvements, and new capabilities.
- Own features from discovery through launch, including problem definition, solution scoping, requirements writing, and working with engineering.
- Bring strong product and design judgment to complex workflows.
- Use wireframes or lightweight prototypes to test ideas and simplify user experience.
- Test developed features, identify edge cases, and coordinate releases.
- Follow up with users to confirm problem resolution.
- Measure whether changes improve legal service delivery, such as faster turnaround times and reduced manual work.
- Use results to inform future improvements.
- Keep founders, engineers, product operations manager, and attorneys aligned on priorities and decisions.
- Bring structure to keep a small team moving quickly.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of product management experience building software with an engineering team.
- Proven track record of taking products or features from problem discovery to launch and explaining the results.
- Excellent product judgment, including distinguishing recurring user problems and identifying the smallest useful solution.
- High bar for execution and quality, with a proactive approach to ownership and attention to detail.
- Strong user research skills and empathy for individuals performing complex work.
- Clear writing and communication skills for concise specs and understandable decisions.
- Technical fluency to discuss APIs, integrations, data flows, and AI product limitations with engineers.
- Comfort with ambiguity and changing priorities in an early-stage company.
- Experience building internal tools, operations software, or customer experiences for a service-based business.
- Experience improving complex professional workflows.
- Experience working on AI products, evaluating reliability, user trust, and human involvement.
- Experience using analytics, SQL, prototyping tools, or AI coding tools.
- Experience at a startup or with legal, financial, or document-heavy workflows.
