About the Role

Eataly is seeking a Bakery Lead to produce authentic Italian bread and focaccia in our 24-hour operating bakery. This role reports to the Bakery Manager and is crucial for maintaining the quality and authenticity of our baked goods.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily operations of the bakery and pizza alla pala counters.
  • Prepare pizza, bread, focaccia, rolls, and other bread items for Eataly's restaurants and retail.
  • Follow proper proofing and baking techniques for each bread variety.
  • Master all shifts and production processes, including overnight production.
  • Guide trainees and externs through training procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary food production area according to Department of Health standards.
  • Perform administrative duties such as inventory, ordering, transferring, and waste tracking.
  • Assist Sales Associates and engage with guests about bread production.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in a baker preparation position with mastery of related techniques.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum guidance.
  • Basic math and measuring skills.
  • Excellent work ethic, communication, and time management skills.
  • Availability to work onsite with an open, flexible schedule often including evenings, overnight, and weekends.
  • Ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week when needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending, and squatting.

Salary/Compensations

  • CAD $25.00-$26.00 hourly
  • Premium of CAD $2.00 per hour for shifts with a punch-in between 8:50 PM and 3:00 AM for hours worked between 9:00 PM and 12:00 PM the following day
