About the Role
This is a development role for an engineer with existing design experience to build technical skills, gain exposure to different aspects of the design lifecycle, and learn about complex defence products. The role covers all aspects of the product lifecycle, from concept studies and requirements to technology selection, design, development, integration, validation, and qualification.
Responsibilities
- Undertake design of electronic circuit assemblies, from concept through design, test and system integration
- Engage with a multi-disciplinary team across the project (systems, mechanical, software, safety, etc) to develop an optimum solution
- Work collaboratively with the project team to ensure products meet all requirements
- Contribute to the development of the wider electronics team, including proposing and implementing improvements, participating in peer reviews and sharing knowledge and good practice across the team
- Generate design documentation such as specifications, test plans and design records
- Prepare for and participate in peer reviews and project design reviews
- Report progress of work against cost, schedule and performance
Requirements
- Experience of electronic/electrical design in a real-world environment (circuit simulation, block diagrams, drawing schematics, etc)
- General understanding of engineering process and design lifecycles
- Personal organisational and time-management skills
- Security Clearance (SC) is required. Must undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to employment.
- To be eligible for full SC, generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years. In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years’ residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.
Skills
- Use of schematic capture packages (Cadence, Mentor Graphics or similar)
- Practical experience of lab work (e.g. soldering, circuit testing, cable assembly, debug, etc)
- Some experience testing at circuit board and system level (e.g. board bring-up and debug, EMC testing)
