About the Role
The Project Manager will manage outreach and implementation of Cancer Center activities in community engagement, patient inreach, and program evaluation. This role supports the BOLD Cancer Wellness team within the Department of Epidemiology and Population Health, focusing on increasing community partnership, patient engagement, and Bronx resident participation in cancer screening, psychosocial care, clinical trials, and related events.
Responsibilities
- Maintain Cancer Center community and patient engagement programming in line with strategic goals.
- Support the implementation of community outreach and engagement initiatives.
- Coordinate psychosocial oncology programmatic, research, and evaluation efforts.
- Collect and maintain data regarding Community Outreach/Patient Engagement/BOLD activities.
- Assist in the development of progress reports for the Cancer Center, NCI, and the Einstein IRB.
- Facilitate the preparation of conference abstracts, presentations, and manuscripts.
- Represent the Cancer Center at internal meetings and community events.
- Support the Cancer Center Community Advisory Board (CAB) by identifying, recruiting, and orienting members, and maintaining communications.
- Organize monthly CAB meetings, ensure preparations, and disseminate minutes.
- Prepare and present monthly Community Outreach/Patient Engagement updates to the CAB.
- Maintain a tracking database to monitor and evaluate cancer-relevant community events and programs.
- Assist in the preparation of new grant applications, IRB, and project protocols.
- Facilitate engagement with community members as partners in research and outreach efforts.
- Create and maintain a MECCC Community Outreach/Patient Engagement website and social media presence.
- Assist in the training and supervision of staff and volunteers.
Requirements
- Masters of Public Health or allied field preferred, or Bachelor’s Degree and 7 years of related project management and/or community outreach experience.
- Experience supervising junior staff/volunteers.
- Experience working with community partners on public health and health equity issues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to apply technology to resolve problems.
- Outstanding judgment, initiative, and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage competing priorities while supporting multiple activities.
- Ability to ensure timely completion of responsibilities within available resources.
- Ability to outline goals and timelines and review progress.
